Regent Seven Seas Cruises Unveils New Lighting Concept for Seven Seas Prestige

The not-so humble crystal chandelier has long been a symbol of elegance, opulence and the upper echelons of luxury. It makes sense, therefore, that Regent Seven Seas (a cruise lines associated with all of the above) would not merely feature crystal chandeliers on their upcoming ship but offer a new take utterly unlike anything previously seen at sea.

In fact, to relegate the upcoming Seven Seas Prestige’s light central light installation to ‘crystal chandelier’ is to do it a disservice. Sitting centre stage in the ship’s Starlight Atrium – an all-new space for Regent – the installation is not an innovative take on a light fitting, but the focal point for Lumière, a light-and-sound show set to become a pre-dinner ritual on board.

“With Seven Seas Prestige being Regent’s first new ship class in 10 years, we wanted to create something extraordinary, a defining statement that captures our heritage of unrivalled luxury while signalling a bold new era,” said Wesley D’Silva, president of Regent Seven Seas Cruises. “This magnificent installation, which is truly a work of art, has been crafted in a centuries-old tradition and brought to life through the wonders of modern technology and engineering. It offers unforgettable moments of awe and wonder from the moment our guests first step aboard”.

Set to be the beating heart of Regent’s jaw-dropping new ship, there is no better home for the installation than the Starlight Atrium. Ensconced within ornate Renaissance-inspired surroundings, this work of art has been created in partnership with famous crystal house Preciosa Lighting and Studio DADO, both of whom have worked on Regent Seven Seas designs previously. Bringing the the Czech art of Bohemian glassmaking to the sea for the first time, the installation will be constructed from more than 300 crystal rods and can be programmed to set different moods and effects throughout the day. The idea is that it will never look the same way twice.

Crucially, this installation will not just serve as decoration. It will be the centrepiece for the Lumière show, which will take place nightly at 6:25pm. Before dinner, guests will gather and hush as the Atrium lights dim, the space bursting into life with a breathtaking light and music show. From whichever vantage point you stand, champagne in hand, you’ll have the perfect view, the display truly setting the scene for an evening of relaxation, indulgence and unforgettable memories.

“Lumière is the ship’s nightly ritual, signalling the transition from day to evening as our Starlight Atrium lights up to a bespoke orchestral piece,” said Kai Carrier, director and entertainment creative at Regent Seven Seas Cruises. “Inspired by the anticipation of the beauty of sunset, it marks the moment the day gives way to a night sky of stars. Elegant, celestial and aspirational, this signature transition is unmistakably Prestige, setting the tone for an extraordinary evening ahead”.

With her December 2026 launch one of the most highly anticipated events in this year’s cruising calendar, each new detail revealed about Regent’s first new ship class in a decade makes it clear just how much of a landmark moment it really is. With at least three more ships in the pipeline, the Prestige-class is set to be Regent’s most innovative and luxurious yet, elevating the guest experience to dizzying new heights. We don’t know about you, but we can’t wait to see what they do next.
