Cunard Queen Anne

Queen Anne's next chapter: Exciting opportunities ahead with Cunard Queen Anne fleet changes

The cruise industry is ever changing, creating new and exciting journeys for its guests, however sometimes that means ships embarking on their own new adventures too. In 2029, Queen Anne will embark on one of her own as she transfers from Cunard to P&O Cruises, creating new opportunities for cruisers around the world.

Whilst this decision has sparked lots of conversation across the industry, it is important to note that all published voyages will operate as planned, including her highly anticipated 2028/2029 world voyage before Queen Anne leaving Cunard later in 2029.

For every great ship, there comes a time when a new chapter begins, creating exciting opportunities for both guests and the brands they love. These long-term fleet decisions are designed strategically to place each ship where its design, onboard experience and unique strengths are the best fit for its guests.

Carnival UK, P&O Cruises and Cunard president Paul Ludlow said, “Queen Anne was created as a bold and contemporary expression of Cunard, combining the brand’s hallmark service and sense of occasion with modern design, an extensive choice of dining and entertainment, and highly flexible public spaces. Those qualities give her a natural affinity with the modern P&O Cruises holiday experience.”

This change will provide Cunard with a more unified fleet centred on Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth. Each of these ships have a deeply established identity and embodies the timeless style, heritage and sense of occasion that guests around the world most closely associate with the brand.

For Cunard guests the future presents an exciting opportunity to experience Queen Anne before the changes are underway. Her remaining seasons look to be full of memorable voyages in a final farewell, likely to be particularly special for loyal Cunard customers with her final voyage sailing from Hamburg to Southampton, arriving on 9th April 2029.

Cunard Liverpool Building

A key event is the four Queens celebration in Liverpool in 2028, where Queen Anne will play a central role. Whilst this will not be the official farewell, the gathering will naturally have added significance to the celebration of the four Queens and Cunard’s long relationship with Liverpool, as well as being the final time the four Cunard Queens are seen together.

This change has also allowed for a stronger focus and investment for the other three Queens, with major refits for Queen Victoria in November 2026 and Queen Mary 2 in March 2027, so that each ship continues to deliver the elegant, distinctly Cunard experience guests expect.

At the heart of these changes is a continued commitment to guests. Whether you're planning your first cruise or counting down to your next voyage, you can continue to book with confidence knowing that all published itineraries will operate exactly as planned. There is still plenty to look forward to, with Queen Anne remaining part of the Cunard fleet through her 2028/29 World Voyage and beyond until her transfer in 2029.

Over the coming months, Cunard and P&O Cruises will share more details about special farewell celebrations, future programmes and what's next for the ship. While change can often bring nostalgia, it also creates exciting new opportunities, with fresh experiences, new itineraries and a bright future ahead for guests across Cunard and P&O Cruises.
