About George

Hi, I’m George! I combine a passion for writing with a yearning for travel to bring flavours from all over the world to your page.

Writing has always been my hobby and it became my profession in 2017. Through school and sixth form, my knack for words got me through my exams and landed me a place at the University of Manchester. There, I studied for a 2.1 in English Language. Afterwards, I relocated to Kyiv, Ukraine where I spent the best five years of my life. I gained new experiences that could feed my written creativity, and it was here that I really fell in love with my words.

The travel bug bit me and it left a huge itch to scratch. I’ve travelled across Central and Eastern Europe, the Balkans, a little bit of the Caucasus, and South and Central America. Scotland and the North Sea Isles are next on my list.

When I’m not travelling, dreaming about travelling, or writing about it, I’m riding my bike, cooking, or watching, coaching, or playing footy.

Working at Panache Cruises

I work in the Marketing team, crafting content to get cruisers onboard with some of the beautiful experiences we offer. Emails, blog posts, brochures - you name it and I’ll be writing it. I love working in an environment where my colleagues share the same passion for travelling as me. Waking up in the morning and having a new place to discover and write about is all the motivation I need.

Favourite Destination

A single travel highlight is difficult to decide.

On one hand, it could be the fusion of Central Asian and European vibes in Georgia, the Gateway to the East. Tbilisi for the best khachapuri, Khapeti for the best wine, and Borjomi for the best landscapes. I’ll never forget how stunning the bus journey from Tbilisi to Borjomi was. On the other hand, it could be the wild diversity of Peru with sandy beaches, vacant deserts, vast rainforests, and epic mountains. I’ll take this chance to brag that I’ve hiked the 5-day Salkantay Trail to Machu Picchu… without a guide or donkey.
