My SALT Kitchen Experience
I have recently returned from what I can only describe as an incredible time on Silversea. This was my first time onboard any of their ships so I was excited to see what all the fuss was about….
And now I know!
From the minute we got on board the Silver Ray I was blown away by the service, and friendliness of all the staff on board. We were greeted with a huge smile and glass of Champagne which after a long journey to Marseille went down a treat!

The rest of that afternoon was spent exploring what the ship had to offer and one of my first thoughts was how spacious the public areas are, all decorated to the highest of standards with a mix of modern art and traditional decor. There were so many intimate areas tucked away that you would have no trouble finding a quiet spot! The Library is a must see.
The food was exceptional from the buffet breakfast to the 3 course dinner we had in the very elegant Atlantantide restaurant, but a highlight for me was dining al fresco in the La Terrazza restaurant. Cooking your own steak on a hot plate while sitting outside in the evening was absolutely lovely, the food was the best I have had in a very long time, and the service from the waiters made it all the more special they could not have done more for us.
We were lucky enough to take part in a session in the S.A.L.T Lab (which if you didn't know is a hands-on cooking class). The food you cook is focused on where you are that day in the world, for us we were in Barcelona so we made a local dish from scratch! The restaurant itself is light, airy and laid out so everyone can see and interact with the rest of the class. It holds around 15 people so a nice small group at all times.

Our Lab host was informative, clear and fun. She gave us some background on why we were making what we did, and where locally the produce had come from. What is made clear from the very start is that everyone is welcome from budding chefs to the not so blessed when it comes to cooking (that would be me), the recipe was easy to follow, we had plenty of time between each steps and the best of all was you then eat your own creation!

It is definitely worth booking, but you must get in quickly as places are limited!
Overall Silversea over delivered, the staff were incredibly attentive and always happy, the ship itself is stunning, you leave feeling you have experienced a real sense of luxury!
