Sailing in Style

From the moment we arrived at the port at Palma De Mallorca it was very apparent I was going to enjoy my following three nights onboard. Straight away the striking façade and yacht style look to Emerald Sakara made her stand out from any other ships in port; from Ritz Carlton to Costa I promise I am telling the truth.

What was apparent from stepping onboard was the luxury and comfort on offer with the product; we headed straight to see our Balcony Stateroom which was well- appointed yet gave a real home from home feeling. After a quick acclimatisation we headed to what would become our favourite part of the ship the sky bar for some ‘welcome’ champagne and cocktails. This is a fantastic area of the ship to truly relax in the front facing hot tub or soak up some rays on the plethora of seating available, all of which were very comfortable.

Our 3 night voyage would take us from Mallorca to Barcelona with port stops in Ibiza and Castellon De La Plaza. Emerald yachts sail a wide variety of seas: Mediterranean, Adriatic, Caribbean, the Indian Ocean/Seychelles, the Red Sea, and more — giving access to beautiful coastlines, islands, culture and varied scenery. On our voyage it was very apparent just how immersive the yacht style of cruising is as we docked centrally in the Old Town of Ibiza and right in port in Barcelona rather than a distance out like the larger ships.

One part of Emerald yacht cruises that really stood out was a balanced mix of exploration to relaxation for example we went from an electric assisted bike ride along the coast of Castellon De La Plaxa to an afternoon of sailing and enjoying the ships facility; everything was at a relaxed pace and very well organised.

In terms of onboard life great food, drink and service is on offer; on board you get fine a-la-carte dining with meals prepared using fresh, local ingredients, often inspired by the region you’re touring. Emerald have recently changed to an all inclusive package onboard that includes beers, wines, spirits and cocktails anytime without charge. The absolute stand out for me was the staff onboard who were a close knit family more than colleagues. They had great camaraderie not only with each other but with guests as well. They remembered preferences perfectly and more personable than I have known on any other cruise ship.

Who would Emerald Yacht be perfect for?

  • Couples or friends wanting a balanced relaxing yet still immersive getaway.

  • Travellers who enjoy comfort but also want to explore several destinations without the hassle of frequent hotels or transport.

  • Those seeking a “reset”: wellness, sea breeze, easy pace, maybe yoga/relaxation with occasional adventure.

  • People who appreciate good food and hospitality.

  • Anyone wanting both scenery and serenity: island-hopping or coastal cruising with peaceful nights onboard.
