Why Azamara Cruises?
This cruise was my second with Azamara and before embarkation I was already looking forward to a few aspects including the excellent food and wonderful service I had experienced previously. Azamara Journey did not disappoint!
My stateroom was an obstructed Oceanview and unfortunately, it was very obstructed with a tender ship and it completely blocked any sort of view. As a stateroom, it had everything I needed including fantastic storage, multiple plug sockets, USB ports for phone charging and replenished bathroom amenities. But the biggest benefit of Azamara is their ships are small so they can get into more intimate destinations and you want to be able to see these as you sail into port.
My advice would be to upgrade your stateroom and not only will you gain additional space and benefits, you will be able to see all those amazing destinations that Azamara sail right into the heart of.
You don’t always have to upgrade to the highest of suites, although these do come with amazing benefits such as unlimited complimentary speciality dining and access to the Thalassotherapy pool and spa deck, you can upgrade to a Veranda Plus stateroom and receive complimentary wi-fi minutes, priority embarkation and complimentary in room spirits.
Outside of the staterooms, the Azamara Journey is bubbling with options to eat, drink, relax or be entertained. For such a small ship, it packs a lot in! As a coeliac, food options are really important to me and the staff on board made me feel so safe and understood exactly what I needed. On the buffet for breakfast they could make me gluten free waffles and pancakes, there was always gluten free bread and muffins available and there was always a senior member of staff on hand to walk me through any options I was unsure about however it was all very well labelled. One evening, we ate in Prime C which is one of 2 speciality restaurants across the Azamara fleet and everything was just perfect! Lobster salads for starters, steak galore for main and delicious desserts if you have any room left! There is a cover charge of $40pp depending on your cabin type but it's 100% worth it!
Another favourite place of ours was The Living Room which is the hub of the evening. Comfy sofas, high back chairs and even a swinging chair provided the perfect place to listen to the ship band who played their way through music genres each evening. One night was 80’s themed followed by Motown and they even took requests! TOP TIP: the staff in The Living Room told us that even if your preferred cocktail is not on the included list, you can request it to be made with the complimentary spirit rather than the higher end chargeable option. This makes the included drinks list a whole lot bigger! My favourite was a Cape Cod and the Sea Breezes went down very well too.
Overall I loved my recent experience on Azamara and would choose to holiday with them again. The service is spot on and they mirror our Panache Cruises vision that nothing is too much trouble.
