I fell in love with Regent Seven Seas Splendor (and took loads of pictures!)

I was absolutely blown away by the design of Regent Seven Seas Splendor. She’s a stunning ship, dripping in refinement and the true embodiment of ultra-luxury. I’d like to tell you all about what I saw and felt as I settled into and walked around this beautiful space.

The suite

Our suite; beautiful in black and white thick, patterned carpets, matching throws and cushions - was stunning. The sitting area was furnished with a comfortable sofa and a gorgeous marble dresser with plenty of storage. A fridge, always stocked, kept us hydrated whenever we fancied a midnight tipple. Plenty of plug sockets, a vanity light-up mirror, tissue boxes, and a bottle of Vero water that was always filled.

The bed was absolutely glorious - like a cloud!

Vero Water ® is a leading provider of premium still and sparkling water to the hospitality industry, enabling clients to serve exceptionally great tasting still and sparkling water - on site and on demand - swiftly, profitably and sustainably.

The walk-in wardrobe was a great size with plenty of hangers. A full-length mirror made sure we were suitably dressed for the evening festivities.

The bathroom was truly beautiful, full marble, and the shower was glorious. If you need extra stability, especially when the ship is moving, Regent Seven Seas have considered this with the design of their shower area. The amenities provided are L’Occitane; shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and body lotion. As soon as we opened them a full new set arrived the same day. That’s Regent Seven Seas for you.

The balcony is much bigger than you expect, with two lovely big chairs and a table. It offers good shade from the sun when you’re sitting down.

The rest of the ship

The Seven Seas Splendor has 10 decks that are publicly accessible by passengers and crew. I loved the Sun Deck, huge with lots of space and different styles of sunbed.

On Deck 6 there is a gym (not that I used it much, but it’s a great gym!) with everything you need for onboard fitness and a beautiful view out of the rear of the ship. On Deck 11 we found the infinity pool and two hot tubs. Personally, I preferred Deck 12 because it felt much calmer but with the same levels of sublime service as on the more popular deck. Deck 12 was closed though on our sea day, I am not sure if this is normal procedure on all sea days, as it was quite windy whilst we were at sea. It is the sports deck. You can find a golf practice net, shuffleboard, crazy golf (I won), tennis nets, croquet, and bocce.

Evening entertainment was brilliant and there were plenty of options in different venues for people of different tastes.

One evening we headed to the Constellation theatre to watch an Irish violinist. This is a beautiful, traditional theatre with two-tiered seating options. It’s set up with a professional lighting rig, a huge velvet curtain, and intimate seats with tables and lamps. We felt like we were watching a Broadway show - thoroughly enjoyable!

The Constellations Lounge offers a more relaxed setting for entertainment; a place to talk and listen rather than just watch. There’s a grand piano in front of the bar and lots of lovely low, comfy seats and tables to sit at. A lovely atmosphere, and exactly what I expected from a luxury cruise.

Even more peaceful is the library area; a calm space. Roomy, filled with large wooden bookcases, plenty of seating areas, and some stunning art. At the other side of the spectrum sits the Casino. Slot machines are open all day but the tables are only open at night. One thing that really caught my eye here were the lights; individual glass domes hanging like sparkling bubbles.

There are two smoking areas, both on Deck 11. One lives next to the pool in an enclosed glass space. Even here the team was in and out to see if we wanted any drinks. As soon as anyone left the smoking areas they made sure the ashtrays were empty and clean.

The other is situated in the stunning Connoisseur Club. On the same deck as the observation lounge, this is the perfect place to relax as all the hubbub happens next door. It’s an enclosed room decorated like an old gentleman’s club with leather chesterfields and blue upholstered chairs. There are racks of cigars to choose from stored in dehumidifiers, if that’s your thing.

One thing I did notice was that the Connoisseur Club must have CCTV because service was exceptional once again. As soon as we sat down a member of staff came in to ask if we needed anything. It’s this attention to detail that makes Regent Seven Seas so good.

The restaurants

La Chartreuse is where we had lunch on the first day while docked in Bordeaux. Chartreuse is a typically French restaurant brimming with French chic. We had a window seat to enjoy  a view of beautiful Bordeaux. The restaurant has a real regal vibe. Lunch was delicious, and I’ll tell you all about it in another blog.

Prime 7 is a gorgeous restaurant; busy but cut off into different sections so you don’t feel too close to anybody. Delicious again, this is a streak restaurant. The decor has put a contemporary twist on the classic American steakhouse. Supple leather wing-back chairs, burnished woods and rich earth-toned fabrics, we felt Prime 7’s distinct, intimate elegance.

La Veranda is where we had breakfast. Deck 11, it also has an al fresco area at the front which on a lovely sunny day would be perfect. The terrace here is absolutely beautiful. This is the perfect place to enjoy a luxury breakfast and delicious lunch buffet.

We enjoyed breakfast and then Sunday brunch at Compass Rose which is the largest speciality restaurant on the ship. With real Versace crockery, there’s a real contemporary vibe to this restaurant. Menu highlights include classics like prawn cocktail, snails, Caesar salad, and plenty of fresh seafood and a wide selection of meat.

Finer details

On top of that, there were other little things that I noticed that wouldn’t fit into a paragraph by themselves but they’re worth mentioning. The difference is in the detail.

  • Everywhere is absolutely spotless.

  • There are hand sanitising stations dotted all around the ship but there are also hand washing basins cleverly located for those that do not like hand sanitisers.

  • There are tissues to use to open the door when leaving the bathroom or you can wave over the electric panel and the door will open automatically.

  • There is plenty of space, not just around the pool area but all around the ship.

  • There are plenty of lifts, never have to wait too long for one to arrive.

  • No member of staff will lets you hold the door open for them

  • The entertainment is great, there are plenty of venues onboard to suit all tastes.
