Uniworld: What's the food like?

Dining onboard Uniworld

The restaurant served both buffet style and a la carte dining options. Breakfast and lunch are buffet-style, whilst dinner was always a la carte! The cuisine was always matching the region you were sailing, which allowed guests to learn about traditional cuisine.

The first lunch I had onboard was a salad, I added chicken, ham, and their house dressing. Next I had a plate of turkey and rice with a curry sauce, fried potatoes, grilled tilapia, tortellini, and then a ham and cheese toastie (I wasn't very hungry!)

Our first evening meal rolled round and for starter I decided to have duck breast salad with green asparagus, herb vinaigrette and pine nuts, I then ordered a cream of mushroom soup, then for main I had the 9 oz US sirloin steak (certified, grass fed, 28 day wet aged US beef) served with herbal butter, pepper sauce and a side of chips, which was cooked perfectly. I then decided to treat myself and order a delicious dessert. I had a strawberry Victoria sponge cake with rum raisin ice cream, AMAZING.

The next morning for breakfast in the buffet I had an omelette with bacon, ham, peppers, tomatoes and cheese, sausage links, apple croissant and a waffle with chocolate sauce. As you can tell the options onboard are incredible there really is something for everyone.

My second lunch onboard was a grilled pork tenderloin and fried rainbow trout served with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. My next course consisted of rigatoni pasta and a slice of whole roasted chicken. There was also an option for a chicken masala panini but I was too full at this point! However, there is always room for a dessert so I had a HUGE slice of chocolate cake with vanilla gelato, which was incredibly rich and delicious.

This evening meal was my favourite. I had sauteed baby scallops with mushy green peas, beetroot and a pommery mustard foam. That was closely followed by a delicious broccoli soup but the main dish this evening was by far the star of the show. The slow roasted veal tenderloin was incredible, it came with morel sauce, broccoli florets, carrots and a pont Neuf potato. For dessert I enjoyed a caramel mascarpone slice with a white chocolate crumble and vanilla ice cream.

Uniworld also served afternoon tea with a range of finger sandwiches, pastries, scones and delicious cakes. Onboard there is also a specialty coffee machine with lattes, cappuccinos, mocha's, you name it they have it!

Conclusion

Overall I absolutely loved the food onboard Uniworld, the a-la-carte style evening meals were incredible every night!  The wide variety of choices in the buffet style dining was amazing, there really was something for everyone and I 100% recommend!
