My time on Scenic Opal

Budapest sits on the River Danube and this is where I joined the Scenic Opal, a stunning location on The River Danube – the most popular river in Europe to sail from.

The Scenic Opal is 135 metres in length and hold 163 guests and was embedded with luxury from top to bottom.

I was greeted onto The Opal by an army of staff who took my luggage, checked me in, gave me a welcome drink and escorted me to my suite.

My suite was the stunning Balcony Suite, but other suites are available onboard such as Royal Suite & Junior Suite.

The Balcony suite consisted of a luxury queen size bed with Egyptian cotton sheets and a spacious bathroom which included a rainfall shower bath and a range of lavish toiletries including ESPA bath salts, champagne, chocolate covered strawberries and so much more.

The balcony in the suite is actually a glass-enclosed portion of the cabin behind a floor to ceiling black out curtain, allowing you to let the outside in. I absolutely loved soaking up the sun whilst getting ready for a gorgeous meal onboard.

The suite features two chairs and a table. The top part of the exterior glass comes down and viola an instant balcony with a spacious living and lounge area.

The wardrobe space was ample and being a lady it was ideal as the plugs were all next to the mirrors for using my straighteners and putting on my make-up.

As I ventured out to discover the ship, the décor is contemporary light and airy creating a modern and luxury feel throughout.

There are lots of facilities on the ship which include a Fitness & Wellness Centre, Salt Therapy lounge and Panorama lounge.

The food and drink are exceptional on this ship and I had the pleasure of dining in the Crystal dining room, where I enjoyed amuse-bouche before having a delicious 3 course meal consisting of one of my favourites, a take on Beef Wellington with Mushroom duxelles, mouthwatering pastry and fondant potato, followed by Chocolate fondant. Wine was served throughout the meal and the service was exceptional throughout.

There is an option to dine at Portobellos Italian Restaurant, where you would be welcomed with a glass of Veuve Clicquot champagne before experiencing a delicious five course menu complimented by exceptional wines.

The evening entertainment was a band from Budapest. There was lots of dancing along with drinks again served by attentive staff.

I ended my evening falling asleep in the slumber Queen bed and slept soundly.

Breakfast was delicious and the array of food was plenty, from traditional English to European cheeses, meats, pastries, cereals, fruit with juices, coffee and tea.

I would not hesitate to book Scenic the attention to detail is 5* along with the staff who made my stay one to remember.

Scenic have some amazing last-minute deals along with up to a 30% and Free Business Class flights on selected sailings.
