Lisbon to Southampton onboard Oceania

Vista is one of Oceania’s newer ships, she was only built in 2023. My first impression of the ship is a small boutique style ship with that refined country club feeling that makes you instantly feel relaxed once onboard.

I stayed in a Veranda stateroom which was spacious and very nicely and practically designed. Here I must mention Oceania cruises beds – this was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. I will not go into all the details of chamomile-scented cover, etc, but trust me when I say you will sleep like a baby!

We had two days at sea, which gave me plenty of time to explore the ship. And there is a lot you can do. Though the ship is small, it feels really spacious. The pool area offers plenty of loungers for everyone. I particularly like the private cabana-style seats on both sides, no need to pre-book or reserve. Here we enjoyed a nice lunch at the Waves café. There were a wide range of choices, but I highly recommend the wagyu and surf burger with sweet potato fries!

Talking about food, Oceania Cruises is known for one of the finest cuisines at sea. And oh my, the food did not disappoint! The Terrace Café is a buffet-style restaurant, offers excellent quality food with various cooking stations, with something for everyone. I usually do not like buffets and try to avoid them. However, Oceania Cruises Terrace Café is exceptional! Another highlight was our dinner at Red Ginger. This is one of the specialty restaurants onboard, all included in your cruise fare! Red Ginger is an Asian restaurant offering the finest cuisine not only at sea but anywhere! My favourite was the butter soft teriyaki sea bass and the duck and watermelon salad! If you are a foodie, you will be in heaven here!

During my four days on board, I found myself often sitting at Baristas (the coffee shop onboard) on Deck 14. I love having a nice coffee with a freshly baked almond croissant (yes, it is conveniently located next to the onboard bakery!) and just enjoy those sea vistas! Next to the Baristas is another place I really enjoy for its coziness and tranquility – the Library. Here you will find a very good selection of books to pass the time on a nice lazy day at sea!

Overall my first time on Oceania Cruises was excellent. If you are looking to dip your toes in sailing on smaller ships and enjoy great food, great service, Oceania Cruises might be the right choice for you too!
