An Archipelago Time Forgot

I am so excited to share that in just a few months' time I will be lucky enough to fly half way around the world and set foot on islands which are remote, untouched, and mysterious. Very few tourists visit this stunning destination and that is thanks to the exceptional work put in by charities and conservation organisations to protect the natural environment and delicate ecosystems throughout the archipelago.

With 21 volcanoes, thirteen of which are active, these islands have challenged and mystified travellers around the world since their discovery almost 200 years ago. You will find more weird and wonderful wildlife than you could ever imagine, from the comically named blue footed booby to the curious looking iguanas, and even giant tortoises measuring up to four feet long.

I am of course talking about the incredible Galapagos Islands!

Watch the video above to see what I mean.

Celebrity Flora

I cannot wait to visit these beautiful islands in Spring 2022 with my colleague Emma. We are honoured to be visiting the islands on board Celebrity Cruises' gorgeous vessel Flora. This expedition ship is uniquely designed as the first ship of its kind to be built especially for the Galápagos Islands; rather than being your typical expedition 'ship', Flora is more like an all-suite mega-yacht with just 100 passengers on board. What I love about Flora is that it has been built with the archipelago and its beautiful natural environment in mind, earning it “Best Overall Cruise Ship” in 2019. This sustainability statement from Celebrity shows its impressive dedication to protecting the environment:

"The dynamic positioning system allows the mega-yacht to remain on station without dropping anchors, protecting the seabed—and the solar panels supplement electricity, reducing emissions."

Thank you so much to Celebrity Cruises for this amazing opportunity.
