Visit Amalienborg Palace
Interested in history? Well, the Amalienborg Palace is located in the “heart of Copenhagen” and is home to one of the world’s oldest monarchies. The Palace was first opened in 1760 and was made from four identical buildings and is almost 400 years old. Whilst visiting the Amalienborg Palace you will be able to watch the Change of the Royal Guards which happens every day at noon.
To visit the palace, it costs 80 DKK for students (approximately £9) and 120 DKK for adults (approximately 13) however, if you have a Copenhagen Card, entry is free. A Copenhagen card can be bought online and costs 499 DKK for a discover card and 575 DKK.
There are many different transportation options available if you are traveling from Copenhagen. If you are wanting a quick and easy way to get to the Amalienborg Palace there are taxis available which cost between 80 – 100 DKK, however if you are looking for a more affordable option, there is also a Line 26 Bus or Subway available which take roughly 10 minutes and cost between 10 – 30 DKK.
Take a Dive into Local Cuisine
Visit Nyhavn, one of Copenhagen's most iconic places, famous for its entertainment and cuisine as well as the colourful buildings itself. Nyhavn was originally built for people to dock their ships in the 17th Century. Today Nyhavn is surrounded with music and food making it an ideal city break.
Nyhavn is the perfect place to try local cuisine whilst watching the sunset. There are many different types of restaurants surrounding Nyhavn ranging from seafood, Italian, Scandinavian and Danish cuisine. This is perfect if you are looking for a night out as there is a wide range of restaurants perfect for every budget as prices range between 100 DKK to 300 DKK (approximately between £11 – £34).
Furthermore, if you are wanting to stay in Copenhagen for a couple of days there are hotels located in Nyhavn, this is perfect if you are wanting to watch sunsets whilst listening to jazz.

Climb the Forest Tower and see a spectacular view of the forests, fields and towns that are in South Zealand. As the top of the tower reaches 45 meters high and is currently the highest point in Copenhagen.
Furthermore, the Forgotten Giants are 6 wooden sculptures, located in the Western Municipalities, they were created using re-cycled woods and can be found off the beaten track in the suburbs. Both of these sights are completely free to visit to explore on your own with no entry fee.
Visit The Little Mermaid
The Little Mermaid is a Bronze Sculpture and was created in 1913, it was inspired by Ellen Price who was a ballerina in 1909, who danced in the Royal Theatre. The sculpture depicts a mermaid becoming human.
The statue is so popular and famous today as it is the “soul” of Copenhagen. The reason as to why the statue is the “soul of Copenhagen” is due to the original story of the “Little Mermaid”. The show that was performed in 1909 was based on the Little Mermaid fairytale, which tells a story of love as well as the history of Denmark itself.
The statute is also so famous that it has be vandalised multiple times. The sculpture is located on the waterfront in Copenhagen which is 2.3km from the city centre, however there is public transport available such as the 27 bus line.
Visit The Tivoli Gardens
The Tivoli Gardens was established in 1843 and is one of the oldest theme parks in the world with over 30 rides. The Tivoli Gardens became an inspiration for many, their rides are perfect for anyone who is looking to feel nostalgic as well as those who are looking for something thrilling and scary. The theme park still operates is first ride which was the Wooden Roller coaster and is one of their most popular rides to this day.
Furthermore, there is also a wide range of entertainment within the gardens as well, ranging from concerts to performances and more than 30 places to dine at. Some of these include a steakhouse, Danish patisserie and Indian dishes. The price for entry costs between 90 DKK and 279 DKK (approximately between £10 - £32).
