What is the Rocky Mountaineer train?
Rocky Mountaineer is a Canadian rail company based in the beautiful city of Vancouver. Rocky Mountaineer train journeys offer luxury scenic trains on four different Rocky Mountaineer routes to either Banff, Jasper, Lake Louise, Kamloops, Whistler and Vancouver through the Canadian Rockies. This iconic train only ever travels from sunrise to sunset and only over a six month period of the year, from mid-April to mid-October. Different levels of service on board the Rocky Mountaineer train
On board the Rocky Mountaineer train journeys, they offer two levels of service: Silver Leaf, Silver Leaf Plus and Gold Leaf. No matter which level you choose, you can always be certain you will experience the pinnacle of luxury, with both options including friendly hosts, gourmet breakfasts and lunches and endlessly amazing views.

So what is included in the different levels of service on board the Rocky Mountaineer train?

There are two levels of service on the Rocky Mountaineer train.

Rocky Mountaineer: GoldLeaf 

Gold leaf is the highest level of service to choose from where you will be located in the Bi-level dome which offers seating above and a dining room below. Guests are able to enjoy full glass-dome windows providing panoramic views, allowing you to witness the most breathtaking landscapes on earth. The lower level of the carriage serves as a dining room with gourmet, a la carte meals, and the upper level features reclining, comfortable pre-assigned seating with ample leg room. In Gold Leaf you will be attended by up to four hosts, catering to every need. Plus a full culinary team is there to offer you a spectacular dining experience, signature cocktails, premium alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and gourmet sweet and savoury snacks.

If you thought that was it in Gold Leaf, you’d be wrong. You also have access to a large, exclusive outdoor viewing platform ensuring you get the most unforgettable views! Professional hosts engage with you sharing stories about historic sites, scenery and wildlife along the route, giving you a better insight to where you are travelling through. Finally, your luggage is delivered to your overnight hotel accommodation in Whistler, Quesnel and Kamloops, ensuring a stress free and seamless Rocky Mountaineer train journey. 

Rocky Mountaineer: SilverLeaf 

Silver Leaf is the more basic level of service Rocky Mountaineer train offers, but is still an unforgettable experience! It features a custom-designed single level dome with oversized glass-dome windows for taking in the spectacular views of Canada. Guests can enjoy regionally-inspired meals served in the comfort of your seats which are comfortable, pre-assigned and reclining. Leg room is ample in the Rocky Mountaineer train Silver Leaf service. You will be attended by up to three hosts catering to your every need, serving you alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and gourmet sweet and savoury snacks. Engaging hosts will share stories about historic sites, scenery and wildlife, as you also get access to the outdoor viewing area guaranteed to make this an unforgettable trip with the stunning landscapes. Rocky Mountaineer wants to make your journey as seamless as possible so they deliver you luggage to your overnight hotel accommodation in Whistler, Quesnel, Kamloops and Glenwood Springs.

Rocky Mountaineer: SilverLeaf Plus

Rocky Mountaineer provides a level in between Gold Leaf and Silver Leaf, Silver Leaf Plus, which offers additional inclusions. You can enjoy exclusive access to the Rocky Mountaineer train lounge car, where you’ll find an additional host and a bar where you can order signature hand-crafted, locally inspired cocktails. Relax in the spacious, comfortable seating area and soak up the incredible scenery as you pass stunning sights like Mount Garfield and Ruby Canyon. Elevate your dining experience in Silver Leaf Plus where you will be offered a wine pairing with lunch and dinner. Treat yourself to premium pastries and desserts from Colorado bakeries, and you can also choose to indulge in additional courses during select meals.

However, SilverLeaf Plus is only available on the Canadian Rockies to the Red Rocks rail route.

Different Rocky Mountaineer train routes 

The Rocky Mountaineer train offers four different routes you can choose from. Firstly, there is Canadian Rockies To The Red Rock, where you will begin your journey in Moab. As you set off, you’ll be greeted by its brilliant red sandstone backdrop. This Rocky Mountaineer train route is filled with highlights best seen by train, including Ruby Canyon, Mount Garfield and crossing the Continental Divide.

The second route to choose from is First Passage To The West, where you will travel through the iconic spiral tunnels, traverse the Continental Divide, and be inspired as you wind through mountain passes and incredible canyons.

Journey Through The Clouds is the third route Rocky Mountaineer offers, where you will travel through scenic valleys along Fraser River, through Hell's Gates and past the incredible Pyramid Falls and this route is only accessible via train.

Finally, there is the Rainforest To Gold Rush route, where you will travel between Vancouver, Whistler and Jasper via the Canadian Rockies. You will witness true wildlife, discover hidden lakes and canyons, and Maravel at Mount Robson, the Canadian Rockies’ highest peak.

Where do you sleep on the Rocky Mountaineer train?

On board a Rocky Mountaineer train journey you will eat, drink, see beautiful scenery and relax in luxury, but where will you sleep? Rocky Mountaineer daylight rail journeys through the Canadian Rockies and American Southwest are planned to show guests all of the scenery.
