A Memorable Trip Aboard Celebrity Apex
I have recently returned from an incredible trip to Northern Europe with Celebrity Cruises and had the best time.
I have done this itinerary a few times before, but my highlights were Flam for its stunning scenery. I have done the railway before, so I just had a mooch in the local museum and gift shops. I do highly recommend Flam Railway though.

The only place I hadn’t visited before is Bruges. After a while waiting for our shuttle bus, in blistering heat, we finally were on our way. It took about 25 minutes to get there and when we did, it was a lovely 10-minute stroll into Bruges itself. There, the first thing we did was treated ourselves to a waffle – DELICIOUS!! We made our way to the market square and were wowed by the beautiful coloured buildings. We also had a walk around the Lake of Love which was lovely. It was really hot this day so we decided that a G&T would be best to finish our tour.

The ship: Celebrity Apex. This is really the reason I booked this holiday.
My first time on Celebrity and it will not be my last.

The food was incredible. We were so lucky to be upgraded to Aqua Class, which includes access to the Blu restaurant. This made my experience to be honest. Nothing was too much trouble for them, if it wasn’t on the menu, it didn’t matter at all. The steaks were mouthwatering!!! The MDR’s was very good too, but Blu was a game changer.
I was surprised how good the buffet food was, always hot and delicious. I appreciated all the Belgium chocolates whilst docked in Bruges.
The Eden Bar was also a café in the afternoons; I discovered this on day 5. Lovely sandwiches, salads, and a few hot bits too.
Drinks: The most important part! Amazing choice and tasty cocktails. They had a special Independence Day one, I have no idea what was in it, but I certainly got tipsy with a few of the Americans.
I upgraded from the classic drinks and wifi on the app before we sailed. I got a good deal (about £100 pp) Boy, am I glad I did. The amount of choice was incredible and it was great to have it all included.

The entertainment was good and varied. The West End style shows were right up my street.
Like I said, we were upgraded to Aqua class, which meant we had an Infinite Veranda. I have heard mixed reviews about these, but we loved it. You can bring the window down to balcony height or just open it a little for some air. You can partition off the balcony area, but we enjoyed having it open plan.

As well as access to Blu, Aqua class customers get access to the thermal spa. To be honest I didn’t use it, I don’t need any help with my body temperature at my age!!!
One last thing worth mentioning is the accommodations made for smokers—the area was beautifully done, and I didn't feel pushed into a corner like on some cruise lines.
