A Complete Guide to Virgin Voyages' Rockstar Suites

Rockstar Suites.

Coming from anyone else, this would be an absurdly audacious way to label a vessel’s top-end accommodation. However, one look and it’s clear that Virgin Voyages have created a suite experience that is more than worthy of its rock and roll name.

Under the Rockstar umbrella are actually two different tiers of suite: the standard ‘Rockstar Suites’ and the extra-VIP ‘Mega Rockstar Suites’. Keep reading to learn more about the different accommodation options on offer as well as all the perks you can look forward to as a Rockstar.

Let’s start with the standard ‘Rockstar Suites’—although let’s be honest, these rooms are anything but standard. There are four different suite categories to choose from here, each offering something a little bit different:

  1. Seriously Suite (352sq ft)
  2. Sweet Aft Suite (416-661sq ft)
  3. Brilliant Suite (482sq ft)
  4. Cheeky Corner Suite (615-857sq ft)

The Seriously Suite may be the smallest of the Rockstar Suites, but it’s still pretty sizeable at 352sq ft. Situated in a prime midship position, you’ll find between 24 and 48 Seriously Suites onboard, depending on which ship you sail on. Each one comes complete with separate seating area and spacious bathroom, perfect for solo travellers or couples just dipping their toes in the Rockstar waters. Also midship are 18 Brilliant Suites, which sleep up to four sailors, ideal for those travelling in larger groups.

As the name suggests, you’ll find seven Sweet Aft Suite at the back of the ship, where total privacy and panoramic ocean views are the order of the day. Within this category, there are three sub-categories, identical to one another but for the terrace size: two ‘Pretty Big Terrace’ options, two ‘Even Bigger Terrace’ options and three ’Biggest Terrace’ options, so it all depends on how much outdoor space you’d like.

Speaking of outdoor space…if that’s a priority for you, you may want to consider a Cheeky Corner Suite, which sits at the back of the ship and features of the most spacious wraparound balconies you’ll find at sea. There are 14 of these per ship and they remain an incredibly popular option for those wanting the very best views as they pull into port.

More like luxurious artist spaces than cruise cabins, each Rockstar Suite has been meticulously designed by Tom Dixon of the Design Research Studio. Whichever one you opt for, you can be sure of a distinctly contemporary feel, expertly blending practicality with eccentric design and embodying both retro-futurism and 60’s yachting culture.

So, that’s the suites themselves—but what about all the exciting perks that come with them?

1. Red Glove Service

If you’re a Rockstar, Virgin Voyages’ famously attentive service begins before you even step aboard, with an email address and phone number offering you a direct line to the team, meaning you can make dining reservations and have any question answered at the drop of a hat.

2. Rockstar Agent

How’s that for a job title? Your Rockstar Agent is a dedicated member of the crew who will be on hand to assist absolutely anything you can think of throughout the voyage. We’re talking anything from stocking the minibar with your favourite beverages to securing front-row seats for the evening’s show to getting you a llama-shaped pool float to relax on during lazy sea days (yes, really). You can contact your Rockstar Agent via the Virgin Voyages app or on the in-room phone.

3. Minibar

When you first walk into your sumptuous Rockstar Suite, you’ll find the minibar fully stocked with complimentary beverages. Although the minibar won’t be automatically restocked as you make your way through it, you can choose to replace drinks on a ‘pay as you go’ basis, via your Rockstar Agent.

4. Early Bird Bookings

Make sure your schedule is chock-full of fun things to look forward to with priority to access to excursions and restaurant reservations. As a Rockstar, you’ll be able to book excursions from 135 days before your cruise and make dining reservations from 120 days before. In comparison, non-Rockstars can access excursions 120 days before boarding and restaurant reservations just 45 days in advance.

5. VIP Boarding

If you’re staying in one of the finest suites on the ship, you’ll want maximum time to settle in. Luckily, Rockstars get priority boarding, meaning you can kickstart your trip of a lifetime right away.

6. Richard’s Rooftop

How many times have you been on a cruise ship and thought, ‘You know what this place is missing? A swish, Ibiza-style beach club, with non-stop champagne, comfy cabanas, hot tubs and sunset Happy Hours.’

If the answer is ‘all the time’, then you’re in luck. Rockstars have access to Richard’s Rooftop, an exclusive sun deck that basically encapsulates all of the above.

7. Priority Show Access

Virgin Voyages is famous for its dazzling entertainment offering, with a line-up comprising of Broadway-style extravaganzas, drag shows, disco parties, magic acts and more. Rockstars will enjoy priority access, usually 35 minutes before showtime, meaning you’ll get the best seats in the house. As ever, your Rockstar Agent will be able to organise this for you.

8. Ship Eats

‘Ship Eats’ is what Virgin Voyages call room service. Yes, the selection of onboard restaurants is nothing short of fabulous, but sometimes you just want a chill night in, tucking into a big cheesy pizza on your private terrace (we’ve all been there). For Sailors, Ship Eats comes with a delivery fee, but this is waived for Rockstars. Basically, you can have whatever you want, whenever you want it, straight to your suite. One chicken pesto pizza please!

9. Bimini’s Private Rockstar Retreat

If you’re sailing a Caribbean itinerary, chances are you’ll be spending a day at Bimini, Virgin’s private beach club in the Bahamas. White sands, azure waters, buzzing pool parties…there’s a reason why this is the highlight of many Sailors’ voyages. For Rockstars, the experience is elevated further with exclusive dining and relaxation areas and opportunities for some tranquil R&R away from the hustle and bustle of the pools, if you choose.

10. Priority Tenders

For some destinations, docking directly in port isn’t an option. In these instances, you’ll need to hop on a smaller boat to shore. For Sailors, this is something that must be booked in advance, but if you’re a Rockstar, you can show up at your leisure, whenever you feel like it.

Now, this has all sounded pretty special so far, but if you’re ready to take things to the level, why not consider a Mega Rockstar Suite? Clustered together at the front of Deck 15, you’ll find:

  1. Gorgeous Suite (570sq ft)
  2. Posh Suite (833sq ft)
  3. Fab Suite (950sq ft)
  4. Massive Suite (2,147sq ft)

Kicking things off with the Gorgeous Suites, you’ll find nine of these aboard. The Gorgeous Suites are a real step up in terms of space and feature a large bedroom, bathroom, seating area and terrace, complete with hammock and two deckchairs.

After this point, there are only two each of all the other Mega Rockstar Suite categories, really placing emphasis on that sought-after sense of exclusivity.

Next up is the Posh Suite, which is even larger than the Gorgeous Suite, with more space on the terrace. The Posh Suite has a wall separating the bedroom from the seating/entertaining area, so if you were thinking of hosting whilst on board, this could be a really good option. Alternatively, you could go one bigger with the Fab Suite, which is very similar with just a tad more space and enhanced amenities.

Finally, we’ve arrived at the Massive Suite. As the name suggests, the Massive Suite is…well, pretty massive. It features multiple rooms include bedrooms, bathrooms, dining and living room areas. In terms of the terrace, you might as well have your own private sun deck, with outdoor lounge and a private hot tub. Honestly, stay in the Massive Suite and you may never want to actually leave your room.

As with the standard Rockstar Suites, the Mega Rockstar Suites come with their own set of perks:

1. Daily Bar Tab

You won’t go thirsty as a Mega Rockstar, with all drinks under $25 included and up to two complimentary bottles of wine per day.

2. Spa Access

Virgin Voyages’ Redemption Spa and Thermal Suite is incredibly popular among those who enjoy some good old-fashioned R&R. Whilst non-Mega Rockstars have to pay for passes which give them a few hours’ access, Mega Rockstars have unlimited access and can pop in whenever they fancy.

3. Getting There

As a Mega Rockstar, your embarkation/disembarkation should be as easy as possible—and thanks to their Red Glove Service, it is. You’ll enjoy either complimentary parking for the duration of your cruise or a private transfer right to the port, meaning you don’t have to worry about a single thing aside from turning up and having a good time.

4. Mega Rockstar Agent

Like those staying in the Rockstar Suites, you’ll be assigned your own Agent to meet your every want and need throughout the voyage. The difference, however, is that a Mega Rockstar Agent is specifically for you, you don’t have to share them with anyone else. Their only job is to make sure that you have the best getaway possible—this is personalised service at its very best.

5. Bottomless Minibar

Like the Rockstars, you’ll have a minibar in your room, fully stocked to your liking. Unlike the Rockstars, yours will be refilled throughout, every time it looks to be running low. We could raise a glass to that.

6. Premium WiFi

As a Mega Rockstar, you’ll be automatically added to the best WiFi package possible, the ‘Work from Sea WiFi’, which operates on higher speeds than any other package.
